Raising funding for acoustic panelling and activities to enhance our multi-purpose hall, and insure it remains inclusive for all.

Project Overview

Overview provided by crowdfunder.co.uk

For the thirty one years that Goal Line's doors have been open, our multi-purpose hall has been a nucleus and central hub for our many programmes, activities and events. It has and continues to play a vital role for both our six weeks of Summer Scheme, and our seven weekly sessions operating six days a week throughout the year.

The multipurpose hall provides a space where our young people can socialise together and build friendships; for sport, games and activities; for facilitator led programmes; for the creative expression of our young people through art, drama and talent shows; a venue for welcoming parents for fundraisers and recognising achievement through our celebration events; and for development of our staff and volunteer team through training and teambuilding. As such it is one of our most cherished assets for enhancing the work we do and the differences we make here at Goal Line on a daily basis.

As any organisation must do, we continually engage in reflective practice in order to insure we are improving and developing the programmes we deliver and the experience of our members. One area we've highlighted for improvement is the level of noise and echo in the hall. Inclusion is at the heart of our club values, and as a result we have a diverse and varied membership. A large proportion of our membership have one or more additional special education needs. For many of our young people, high levels of noise and sensory stimulation that can be found in our hall can be a source of discomfort. In some cases, these young people avoid the hall entirely.

We have already made great strides in this area with the opening of our sensory room in 2016, which has proved an essential addition to our facilities, addressing the sensory needs of our members. In order to insure our programmes remain as inclusive as possible, we believe we must be proactive in mitigating the level of echo and loud noise in our multi-purpose hall.We believe the solution can be found in acoustic wall panels. By absorbing sounds and preventing its reverberation and echo around the room, acoustic panelling is known to dramatically reduce noise level. With their addition, we will be able to remove a substantial barrier to the participation of all of our young people in our full range of activities and programmes, creating an environment that is more comfortable and enjoyable.

We ask that you would consider supporting our club in this project by contributing to this campaign; helping to raise funds for acoustic wall panelling, but also for new and exciting activities in our hall; and in turn support the development of our young people.
